Jacob Sudhoff Honored at AAF's Night of Celebration of Diversity
The American Advertising Federation-Houston hosted its inaugural Night of Diversity + Inclusion on Wednesday, March 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Pitch 25 in East Downtown Houston. The event served to inform and educate Houstonians and all guests on Houston’s point of differentiation that is critical to the city’s culture, economy, and future growth.
The initiative, held by AAF-Houston and its Multicultural & Diversity Committee, and presented by CenterPoint Energy, will feature guest speaker J.J. Moses, former Houston Texans player. The event honored three Houstonians who serve as prime examples of how embracing the city’s uniqueness can truly move the needle. The Night of Diversity + Inclusion honorees are:
- -Mary Benton — Press Secretary for Mayor Sylvester Turner
- -Chris David Garcia — Creative Director for the Houston Astros
- -Jacob Sudhoff — Founder & CEO of Sudhoff
“We created this event to not only recognize, but to celebrate our city’s beautiful diversity and spirit of inclusion. Through good times and through bad, no matter who you are or where you’re from, we’ve seen a unified Houston band together to move us forward time and time again — and we want to talk about that on March 6,” said Multicultural & Diversity Committee Chairman of AAF-Houston, Sonny Villarreal III.
Edgar Medina performed a “live painting” during the event, which be sold via live auction at the conclusion of the show. Lastly, Mayor Sylvester Turner made a surprise appearance at the end of the show to deliver a proclamation designating March 6, 2019 as a citywide “Day of Diversity and Inclusion.”
